The house has wonderful panoramic views. It's lovely to enjoy the view from the garden and then to see for miles into the Aveyron from the living room windows.
Estaing is situated on the SW edge of Massif Central with spectactular river gorges all around. Everywhere you drive opens up a new beautiful vista.
Food & Wine - Absolutely Superb restaurants nearby with the Armes D'Estaing, Le Bel Horizon, Le Fel, The Aubrac and the 3 Michelin Star Michelle Bras. The food is generally hearty fare of excellent quality made with fresh natural ingredients. Local delicacies include foie gras, aligot (a delicious mixture of local cheese, mashed potato and cream), chou farcie, estouffad. The local beef is the most prized in France - the Race d'Aubrac. For supermarket shopping a further ten minutes will take you to Espalion with it's centuries old bridge, thriving Friday market and numerous shops and restaurants.
Places to Visit - The immediate area has the highest density of villages listed as the most beautiful in France. Estaing is 5 mins away with Saint-Come d'Olt, Sainte Eulalie d'Olt and Conques all within 30 mins. Conques is one of the premier sites of France and is most definately worth a visit.
